Willow Structure

Example Projects

Willow structures are curious things. As soon as they are planted they are just a twiggy frame that has been lashed together to make a transparent tunnel or tent. Once they get established they take on an extra dimension and are ALIVE. They are not difficult to make as you are effectively popping giant cuttings in the ground and tying them together with string.

Living willow rods can be planted in a pattern and then interwoven to produce a living willow structure. No digging is needed to plant and the willow rods are living rods which will self root in the ground and continue to grow. Maintaining them can be carried out crudely with a pair of shears or, quicker still, a hedgetrimmer.
